The Gainsborough Conservative Association marked an historic moment this last weekend as we celebrated 100 years of continuously returning a Conservative Member of Parliament. During this time there has been only THREE MP's - Harry Crookshank (1924-1956); Marcus Kimball (1956-1983) and Sir Edward Leigh since 1983. To mark the occasion members and guests held a Black Tie Dinner at Thonock Park Golf Club, where we not only celebrated the last 100 years but looked forward to extending this record even further. Guest speaker for the evening was Lord Frost of Allenton - former Diplomat and Chief Negotiator of Task Force Europe and Europe Adviser to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. There were distinguished guests from all over Lincolnshire and some from as far away as Surrey, Suffolk and Scarborough.
One feature of the evening was an auction of various memorabilia including some items signed by Margaret Thatcher and Boris Johnson. The auction itself was ably conducted by our PCC, Marc Jones. Sir Edward also regaled us with a fascinating look into the history of the Constituency and particularly his two predecessors. We were also delighted that one of the Leadership candidates, Robert Jenrick, was able to stop by and meet people.
