A luxurious housing development scooped a top award at the regional building awards.
Evergreen Drive in Market Rasen scooped the award for Best Small Housing Development at the LABC Building Excellence Awards. The project was one of 16 projects nominated by Conseravtive-led West Lindsey District Council, which they had been involved with.
Mr. Martin Flynn of JK Construction, who worked on the project said:
“We’re thrilled that Evergreen Drive has won this award. It’s great to receive recognition. We enjoyed working with West Lindsey’s Building Control team in a collaborative manner.”
Hodson Architects, who worked closely with the council and the client, were equally pleased, director Mr. Mark Hodson said:
“This was one of those model cases where a client has a great idea and we were able to build on that.
“Due to ambitious environmental features, there were some complexities but we were able to overcome these to deliver these incredible homes. We’re so pleased that this project will now enter national stages of the competition.”
The Mill in Middle Rasen was converted into a home and although this did not win it was highly commended in the category of Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion. Dr Harries, the home owner said:
“It's a huge honour to receive this commendation and very exciting that our hard work has been rewarded in this way. My wife and I didn't set out to take on such a big project, but when Anna found the mill we both were so taken with it that we didn't realise how big a task we were taking on. West Lindsey building control were extremely helpful and supportive and were always ready and willing to discuss aspects of the build and to advise.”
Mr. Trevor Durant, senior building control surveyor at the council, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with the success of all those nominated.
“The Evergreen Drive development is an example of talented developers and the council working together to deliver great results. Equally, the ambitious project at The Mill, Middle Rasen was a pleasure to work on with a homeowner, showing the variety of specialities we engage with.”
The awards were presented by Mr. Peter Shilton OBE, England's most capped football player of all time at a glittering awards ceremony at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham. The winning finalists from all regions will now be entered into the grand finals to be held on 10th November at The Lancaster Hotel, London.
