Members of the Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association have attended the Conservative Party Conference, held in Birmingham, earlier this week, and returned inspired, renewed and ready to build upon the work being done locally to make our communities stronger and enabling Britain to deliver.
Local party members throughly enjoyed, the highlight of the week, Prime Minister David Cameron's speech. A speech which combined both the modernising and traditional elements of the party and staked a firm claim for the Conservatives as the only party that can, and is, tackling proverty and injustice. Creating a confident nation, a nation of aspiration, in a ever more competitive wourld. Mr. Cameron's speech was at times uplifting, at others delivered from the heart, and deeply personal. It was impressive and statesmanlike and demonstrated that the Conservatives are on the side of aspiration and entrepreneurial spirit. Whilst Labour stand only for a culture of welfare that debilitates and sides with Union wreckers.
Mrs. Meg Davidson (Association Treasurer) and Cllr. Giles McNeill (Association Secretary) were pleased to attend the Party Treasurers' Reception, held on the Tuesday, and to be one of four Associations to present cheques to the Party Chairman, Grant Shapps, to support the national Conservative Party as had been discussed at the Association's Annual General meeting back in March.
