Dozens of guests have attended the Association's annual Constituency Dinner, held at Hemswell Court, Lancaster Green, Hemswell.
Upon arrival guests, who looked both smart and elegant in their evening wear, were welcomed in to the Primrose Room by Chairman, Mr. AShley Perraton-Williams and were invited to enjoy a glass of warm winter Pimms or orange juice. Parliamentarians Sir Edward Leigh MP and guest speaker the Rt. Hon. Nicky Morgan MP circulated with other guests including party members, young activists, councillors and other supporters at a preprandial drinks reception.
A little before eight o'clock guests were invited to take their seats for dinner. Cllr. Mrs. Sheila Bibb, Deputy Chairman (Membership & Fundraising), provided grace. Guests enjoyed a starter of homemade minestrone soup with a parmesan cheese crouton, followed by a main course of supreme of chicken breast with fresh vine tomato and basil sauce served with new potatoes and a selection of roasted butternut squash, peppers and other vegetables. Dessert was a rich chocolate tart with maple and walnut ice-cream and blackberries. Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, Cllr. Roger Patterson, Deputy Chairman (Political) provided the loyal toast. To follow guests enjoyed coffee or tea and chocolates.
Mr. Perraton-Williams introduced the Rt. Hon. Nicky Morgan MP who spoke about her time in parliament, recent political events and wryly noting that she and Sir Edward had been on opposing sides in the recent EU referendum campaign. Mrs. Morgan took questions from Mr. Hugh Thomson, Mr. Andrew Bradley, Mr. Alex Maughan and Mr. James Innnes. Sir Edward Leigh provided a Vote of Thanks.
Guests were invited buy tickets for the Grand Draw. After a thoroughly enjoyable evening the event broke up around half past ten.
