Conservatives have welcomed a report in the Market Rasen Mail that describes Sir Edward Leigh MP as the 'bookies favourite' as bookmakers Ladbrookes indicate that incumbent Sir Edward is likely to retain his seat in next year's general election.
"Gainsborough looks a pretty solid hold," for the Conservatives and give odds for Sir Edward at 1/50 for him to retain the seat. UKIP are an outsider to take the seat at 16/1 whilst the Liberal Democrats are on 25/1 and Labour are given odds of only 50/1.
Association Secretary, Giles McNeill, said:
"It is really great news from Ladbrokes that they have given such strong odds for Sir Edward to hold his seat next year. Sir Edward works very hard to represent everyone in the constituency and takes a very active and engaged approach. All things considered our share of the vote has held up very well in recent elections that have taken place in our area, so we are confident that Sir Edward will be returned to parliament, but we are not complacent and will continue to work hard for every vote on polling day."
