Conservatives have enjoyed a sparkling event hosted by the Nettleham & District Branch with a tasting of seven champagnes at the home of the Association's Chairman and Branch Committee member, Mrs. Stephanie Rouse.
The Champagnes were introduced by Mr. Henry Speer, who previously has run a champagne import business, and his witty, insightful and often amusing facts provided the backdrop for tasting some excellent champagne. Cllr. Giles McNeill and Mrs. Rouse provided an array of canapés, soft cheeses, fruit tartlets and fresh strawberries & cream.
The champagnes tasted were:-
- Perrier Jouet Blason rosé N.V., Grande Marque, Eperney
- Champagne Gruet Brut Selection NV, Propriétaire Récoltante Buxeil, Aube PN
- Mont Hauban Tradition NV, Co-Operative, Monthélon, near Eperney
- Michel Rocourt Brut NV, Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Premier Cru blanc de blanc
- Moet et Chandon Imperial Brut NV, Eperney
- Tattinger Brut Reserve NV, Remis
- Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV, Eperney
Chairman of the Branch, Mr. Peter McNeill, commented:
"I am really pleased that this event, which is a new event for us, wwent so well. It would not have been a success without the combined efforts of our team. I am particularly grateful to Edward and Stephanie for letting us use their home, both Stephanie and Giles for doing the food and Henry for letting us take advantage of his knowledge. I hope that we may do another event of this type soon, as it seems to have been well received.
"I was happy that we had new some new members attending this event and the profit will go towards fighting both the general and local election campaigns next year."
