A Club in Cherry Willinham has been bowled over by help provided by Conservative-led West Lindsey District Council.
The Bowls Club in Cherry Willingham has received a grant of £634.76 from the Councillor Initiative Fund. This funding is available to all 37 district councillors. The councillors have an allocation of £4,000 to spend over two years on projects in their ward, which can be divided up between several good causes.
Cllr. Mrs. Irmgard Parrott, one of two Conservatives who represent the Cherry Willingham Ward, has used part of her allocation to replace frost damaged pipes, water heaters and the irrigation pump at the club.
Mr. John Nokes, President of the bowls club said:
“We are so thankful to Cllr Parrott, to have given us the opportunity to repair our plumbing.
“Despite us having drained the system for the winter, with the low temperatures it still damaged the pipes.
“It now means that because we have repaired all the damaged parts, when we don’t have a hosepipe ban we can water the green in one hour.”
Cllr. Mrs. Parrott commented:
“A lot of people use the bowls club in the village, and sadly they had a lot of problems over the winter.
“They do a lot of fundraising for themselves, so I was very pleased to be able to help them out in these unexpected circumstances.
“It is a good thing that we can help out the people in our local villages.”
The club has about 40 members, and welcomes new people all the time. For more information please contact Mr. Geoff Kettleborough on 01522 808193.
