Local Conservatives have welcome Stephen Phillips QC MP to their Supper Club event held on Friday, 7th September. Mr. Phillips, who represents the Sleaford and North Hykeham Constituency spoke to dozens of local party supporters at the event held at the White Heather, Caenby Corner, near Market Rasen.
Mr. Phillips who is a barrister became the member for the Sleaford and North Hykeham constituency at the 2010 general election, succeeding Douglas Hogg.
Diners enjoyed a sumptious menu of either melon with lemon sorbet and honey or cream of asparagus soup followed by either braised steak or chicken breast, wrapped in bacon with a white wine sauce. Dessert options included profitteroles, apple and fruit crumble or a duo of chocolate mousse.
Mr. Phillips' addressed those gathered, initally congratulating the Association, and specifically Cllr. McNeill, who was in attendance, for their success the preceding evening with two landslide victories in electing Cllr. McNeill to West Lindsey District Council and Cllr. Mrs. Brockway to Lincolnshire County Council, taking the two seats which had been held by the Liberal Democrats for decades. He then spoke about a number of policy areas, including europe, the economic situation and welfare reform. His address was witty and engaging and all present agreed he had proven to be a highlight. Mr. Phillips took a number of questions from the floor.
To conclude, an excellent night was had by all. A wonderful speaker, with first-rate food and good company provided an evening not to have been missed.
