Gainsborough Conservatives have enjoyed a successful Ball at the White Heather, Caenby Corner. Local parliamentarian Edward Leigh was the Association's guest at the event and spoke briefly after dinner to the subtantially increased number of guests in attendance, who arrived to a champagn reception.
In recent years the Association's annual ball had been held in the summer months, but returned to the autumn this year. A decision that was validated with the substantial increase in the number of guests on the previous year.
Guests enjoyed a sumptious menu of Whitby prawns and Scottish salmon with a dill and greek yoghurt dressing, followed by braised lincolnshire beef in real Lincolnshire ale gravy with new and roast potatoes and for dessert a rum and black cherry roulade with vanilla ice-cream finished the dinner. Newly elected district councillor, Giles McNeill, gave the loyal toast before coffee and mints were served. Mr. Leigh addressed those present briefly before inviting Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate for Lincolnshire, Richard Davies to make brief remarks.
The formal business of the evening over, guests danced through the night to the melodies of Regency Band, who played a mixture of modern music covering a period of the last fifty years. At half past eleven the raffle was draw (details of the winners can be found here) before the band resumed until the revelry broke up around one o'clock.
