Guest to the Association's Summer Ball were greeted in some style with a glass of fizz upon arrival. Local parliamentarian, Sir Edward Leigh MP, was the guest of honour, together with his wife Lady Mary. He addressed the audience after dinner and outlined the reasons for not supporting the government's position on Syria.
Guest enjoyed a sumptious menu of salmon fish cakes with a light dill mayonnaise followed by slow roast lamb steak in minted gravy with seasonal vegetables and both roast and new potatoes. Dessert was a refreshing key lime pie finishing off the dinner.
Mrs. Janet Parry, wife of the Ball President, provided the grace and Mr. Edward Rouse made the loyal toast.
The formal business of the evening over, guests danced through the night to the melodies of Regency Band, who played a mixture of modern music covering a period of the last fifty years. At half past eleven the winners of the grand draw were announced (a list of the wining ticket numbers can be downloaded by clicking here). Mr Conor Burke (pictured) with the Association Chairman, Mrs. Stephanie Rouse, won first prize. The band resumed until the revelry broke up around one o'clock.
