The Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association are pleased to have selected a local candidate, for the forthcoming by-election on Thursday, 16th November, for the Sudbrooke ward vacancy on West Lindsey District Council.
The by-election is taking place following the resignation of former district councillor Stuart Curtis who resigned owing to ill health and whose recent untimely death is a cause of great sadness to many.
Mr. Ashley Perraton-Williams, Chairman of the Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association, was pleased to announce that Mr. Bob Waller had been selected as the local Conservative Party Candidate. He said:
“Bob is a dedicated, local parish councillor who has a great deal to offer local people at their next district councillor. He is passionate about the local area, getting better transport links, improving village facilities, building a safer community and a making sure that the planning system delivers the right results for local people. I know that backing Bob in this by-election is the only way local residents will get the right district councillor to succeed the late Stuart Curtis.”
Bob, commenting on his selection as the Conservative candidate, said:
“I am very pleased to have been selected as the Conservative candidate in the West Lindsey District Council by-election for the Sudbrooke ward on Thursday, 16th November 2017. I want to build on the very good work done by the late Stuart Curtis over the years and appreciate that these are big shoes to fill.
"I look forward to meeting and speaking with as many local residents as possible in the coming weeks of the campaign and I hope they will be kind enough to support me.
“Our local Conservatives on the district council have a positive record of delivering for the district. I want to be part of that team, keeping the Council Tax low, making sure we are open for business, getting better transport links, protecting communities from unsuitable development - getting the Sudbrooke Neighbourhood Plan back on track - and making West Lindsey a place where people want to visit, enjoy and discover. I will listen to local residents’ concerns and make sure we get action on the issues the communities of Scothern and Sudbrooke both face.”
The Leader of West Lindsey District Council, Cllr. Jeff Summers, added:
“Conservatives are proud to be leading the way at West Lindsey District Council.
“We have a cohesive and energetic team of councillors at West Lindsey within our ruling Conservative Group. I hope that local people will add Bob to our team, so that local views from the communities of the Scothern and Sudbrooke are heard. Bob will bring an considerable knowledge and experience to our council.
“The circumstances of this by-election are naturally very sad, particularly for all who knew Stuart. It was not the Conservative Party locally that called this by-election, nevertheless we are going to fight to keep the seat blue. As a mark of respect to Stuart's memory we will be suspending campaigning locally on the day of and around his funeral.”
