More than sixty villages across West Lindsey will benefit from an expanded CallConnect bus service.

Saxilby, Dunholme, Spridlington and Scothern are among some of the rural areas in the district that will benefit from the new service, which launched on Monday, 6th November 2017.

As previously reported, Lincolnshire County Council, Stagecoach East Midlands and West Lindsey District Council have worked in partnership toexpand the on-demand bus service to further areas in the district to tackle transport issues.

The extended service will enable hundreds of residents to travel to more locations, hubs and services as well as providing improved connectivity to the wider bus and rail network.

Cllr. Lewis Strange, member champion for transport at West Lindsey District Council, believes the new service will help residents ‘feel less cut-off from society’. He said:

“Connectivity is so very important to many of our residents, and the new CallConnect bus service will be an asset to those who don’t have access to their own transportation.

“I truly commend West Lindsey District Council, in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and Stagecoach east Midlands, for filling a gap in terms of transportation for Lincolnshire. The service grants freedom to residents in allowing them to meet up with their friends or even make a hospital appointment – they will feel much less cut-off from society!”

Cllr. Lewis Strange was invited along with Cllr. Mrs. Jessie Milne, Anita Ruffle, transport manager at Lincolnshire County Council, and others on a whistle stop tour on the new CallConnect Bus service.

Anita Ruffle, Head of Transport Services Group at Lincolnshire County Council, was thrilled partners could experience the service first hand before speaking to residents at Dunholme Old School to discuss the benefits. She said:

“It is so refreshing to find a creative solution to the transportation problem affecting so many of West Lindsey’s residents. This partnership with West Lindsey District Council and Stagecoach East Midlands will be excellent as we are all working collaboratively towards the same goal – to make CallConnect a roaring success!”

CallConnect is a public bus service that operates in response to pre-booked requests. Registration is free but you must be a member to book a journey. You can then use the service for any reason and as frequently as required.
