A Gala Dinner held in honour of Sir Edward Leigh's thirty-five years as Member of Parliament for the Gainsborough (and Horncastle) Constituency was a fantastic celebration and substantial success.
Nearly one-hundred members and supporters both past and present attended an elxcellent evening at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Brayford, Lincoln on Saturday, 9th June.
Guests enjoyed a drinks reception with glass of bucks fizz on arrival on the Aspen Balcony followed by a three course dinner of roast red pepper soup followed by salmon fillet, crushed garlic new potatoes, baby leeks, tomato & chive beurre blanc, crispy leeks, micro parsley. To finish guests enjoyed strawberry cheesecake, berry coulis, sweet cream, lemon crumb.
Cllr. Stuart Kinch, the Association's President, introduced Her Majesty's Principle Secretary of State for International Trade, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Liam Fox MP (North Somerset), who was the Association's special guest. He kindly gave and address and took questions from Cllr. Allison and Mr. Downey.
As coffee was served fellow Lincolnshire parliamentarian, and former Agent, Martin Vickers MP (Cleethorpes) provided the Vote of Thanks, and in paying tribute to Sir Edward remarked on the substantial successes of his career and their close association. They were joined by Cllr. Patricia Mewis, the Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, and her consort together with district and county councillors, party officers and officials. Cllr. An auction was undertaken, conducted by Mr. Daniel Hutchinson of Unique Auctions, Lincoln and a Grand Draw took place; with Mrs. Delia Heppenstall being the lucky winner of a substantial luxury hamper.
