Following the sad and untimely death of County and District Councillor Lewis Strange, local Conservatives have been paying tribute to a 'true gentleman'.
Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Leigh MP, local parliamentarian for the Gainsborough constituency, added:
"Lewis was a wonderful man. The very best of Lincolnshire; kind and dedicated. As straight as an arrow and always ready with honest, sound advice. A superb councillor. Greatly loved and missed."
Cllr. Martin Hill OBE, Leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said:
"I'm very sorry to hear the sad new about Lewis Strange. He was a highly respected and poplular councillor on Lincolnshire County and West Lindsey Distrct councils.
"As a local man with long-standing roots in the county, he was a passionate advocate for Lincolnshire and rural life in particular in its many aspects. He played an important part in developing the county council in various roles and his gentlemanly charm and common sense will be missed.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time."
Mr. Stuart Kinch, Chairman of the Gainsborough Constituency Conservative Association, said:
"Lewis has been a dedicated local councillor for twenty-one years, at both district and county counclls. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. His absence will be keenly felt."
The Leader of West Lindsey District Council, commented:
"Lewis was one of the first people I got to know when I joined the local Party, fifteen years ago. Always a regular at Party event, perhaps talking about cricket, the Wolds, politics or farming, he was a true gentleman and I know he will be sorely missed."
Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshre, Marc Jones, said:
"Lewis Strange was the kindest of souls and a true gent. I feel honoured to have known him. He cared so very much about Lincolnshire and always reasoned his point of view with respect, honesty and good humour.
"Lewis will be greatly missed."
Cllr. Steve England, Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, said:
"A true gentleman. His unstinting service to West Lindsey and Lincolnshire, the county he loved, will be sorely missed."
