This September Conservative-led West Lindsey District Council is supporting a campaign to get recycling back on the household agenda. 

Pledge4Plastics is a scheme being backed by the Coalition Government aimed at increasing the collection of plastic packaging for recycling. It is urging people to make a promise to recycle just one extra plastic bottle per household each week.

To highlight the many ways plastic can be given a new life if recycled correctly, Pledge 4 Plastics has teamed up with interior designer Abigail Ahern.

The designer, who has a collection at a leading high street department store and recently starred in Channel 4’s Get Your House in Order, has channelled her distinct style to design her first ever bespoke phone cover - made from 80 per cent recycled plastic bottles.

One thousand limited edition phone covers (available for the iPhone 5C/S and Samsung S5) have been designed exclusively for Pledge4Plastics, to reward those who register their support online throughout September or by tweeting @pledge4plastics.

Councillor Owen Bierley, Chairman of the Prosperous Communities Committee at West Lindsey District Council, said:

“It’s important to remember that Pledge4Plastics is not just about recycling water and drinks bottles, it includes all types of plastic bottles, from every room in the house, ranging from shampoo bottles and shower gels to domestic bleach bottles and empty cooking oil bottles.

“In West Lindsey we can recycle all plastic bottles, including drinks, milk, shampoo, bleach and washing-up liquid bottles as well as clean ready meal food trays – check the reverse of your calendar or online for more information on what can be recycled at home.”
