The former Plough pub on Church Street is currently undergoing a £350,000 makeover to turn it into an innovative business hub.
Prosperous Communities Committee Chairman, Cllr. Malcolm Parish said work is progressing well and the building is on target to open at the beginning of March.
“This is an excellent opportunity for small businesses to work in a contemporary office space at a reasonable price. These offices are ideal for people who are setting up a new business or making the switch from working from home. It’s a great networking opportunity.
“The best thing is the letting terms have been made so easy to make it more attractive to small businesses.”
The new business hub is situated next to the Grade II listed Parish Church. Planning permission to change the use of the building was granted in November 2010. It followed a feasibility study, which found a need for small business units with ‘easy-in-easy-out’ terms.
There are 10 offices to let and the prices vary depending on the size of the office but the cheapest office can be rented from as little as £31 a week. Gelder Construction is carrying out work on the development and once it is complete it will feature: A meeting room for businesses and community groups which is also equipped with the latest IT facilities
- Hot-desking and rent-a-desk facilities for businesses in the very early stages of starting up
- There is also a kitchen and seating area, which leads on to a patio area for relaxed lunches or informal meetings
- Parking permits available
- 24 hour access
The project was made possible after the council successfully applied to the East Midlands Development Agency for funding for the Gainsborough Strategic Property Acquistion Project.
